Introdução

Use this guide to upgrade or replace the solid-state drive in a MacBook Pro 13” Early 2013. This MacBook Pro uses a proprietary storage drive connector, and is therefore not compatible with common M.2 drives without the use of an adapter.

Before you perform this repair, if at all possible, back up your existing SSD. Then, either familiarize yourself with internet recovery or create a bootable external drive so you’ll be ready to install macOS onto your new drive and migrate your data to the new SSD.

Finally, we strongly recommend installing macOS 10.13 High Sierra (or a later macOS) before replacing the original SSD from your MacBook Pro. Most new SSDs require updated storage drivers not found in versions of macOS prior to High Sierra.

  1. Remove the following ten screws securing the lower case to the upper case:

    • Throughout this repair, keep track of each screw and make sure it goes back exactly where it came from to avoid damaging your device.

    If don’t have one of those neat project mats, then you can use small pieces of flattened blu-tack to hold the screws. If you arrange them in the shape of your mac book cover, and put the screws down methodically, you can get a one-to-one mapping of the screws to the correct screw holes.

    On my model A1425 these were all 1.2mm P5 screws. They all looked the same to me.

  2. Wedge your fingers between the upper case and the lower case.

    This plastic cover wasn’t included with the new battery so I placed the original one back in. Was it supposed to go back in? This detail wasn’t clear since the original cover didn’t fit exactly over the newer battery connector. Plus any stickiness of adhesive that may have been there was gone.

    My “on button” isn't working. I was wondering can I just disconnect the battery like this, and plug it in to turn it on? Which is shown possible on earlier models on YouTube.

    Check your speakers for the screws. The magnet for the speakers is strong enough to stick to them.

    you must lift it absolutely vertically, or it fouls against the locator pin in the corner- you can easily get the impression that it won’t come over the end of this pin- almost like it’s rivetted in. it isn’t. get a good grip on it with the tweezers in the centre hole & one of the sides, & lift it STRAIGHT up.

    Be extra careful when tightening down on the interposer. When I powered on upon completion, the battery was not connected. When I opened it back up, I saw that one of the little metal nubs holding the interposer in place had snapped off (the one on the side, not the corner). I was able to carefully tighten the wide head screw back in, watching the alignment, and the battery was successfully recognized. Hopefully the connection holds up.

    So something similar happened to me. One the the metal alignment nubs snapped off, and when I went to screw down the interposer it started emitting a burning smell. Do you guys think I fried the board? There doesn’t look to be any visual damage but the computer wont turn on.

    I think I snapped off the nub as well, and the battery is not recognized . Replacing the interposer did not help, or trying to align it right. will have to try to replace the battery next.

    Warning to all: I snapped off the alignment nub as well, as I removed the interposer, and now it won’t start with a brand new battery. Any solutions to a “snapped nub” issue?

Ok, now that I replaced my SSD - how do I recover my OS?

You can boot your mac to the recovery pressing command + R while you turn on your mac, configure your wifi and then create the partition in the ssd using disk utility, then you can clos disk utility and proceed to the instalation of the OS, the installation will be downloaded from the apple servers so it will depend of your internet speed how long will it take.

Sieht so aus, als würde da eine ganz normale 2,5”-SSD reinpassen, wenn man den Einschub weglässt. Kann man das Kabel am MBP entfernen und ohne den Einschub benutzen?

Geht leider nicht. Die neue NVMe m.2 SSD muss eine Übergangslösung haben. Leicht zu finden beim Internett. Das Übergang ist ein kleines Zeug das Mann braucht der Länge und Datei - Brikett zur passen.
