RAM update on 2.16ghz Core2Duo Mid 2007 MacBook to Support SnowLeopard
My current mid-2007 macbook has 1GB memory and can support 2GB according to Apple. I recently updated to snow leopard on my 1GB and was experiencing odd problems; 1st my fan went dead, then I couldn't watch any videos without my computer shutting off. I have installed a new fan but I believe I also need to update my RAM to 2GB to support the snow leopard. I've read here that I can add up to 3GB but that rely on a non-dual-channel. My questions are- Does the 3GB really offer that much more? If I only need 2GB to stream videos and type my papers, should I use the existing 2x516GB and install another 1GB or should I install 2 new 1GB sticks?
