If your 2TB Western Digital external drive is detected but can’t be read first try connecting it to another computer or using a different USB port or cable to rule out simple connection issues. Before doing anything that could risk the data, you could use Remo Free Disk Clone Software to make an exact copy of the drive. Once you have a clone you can attempt to access or repair the copy without risking further damage to the original drive.
