Blue, red or white 11" Dell Inspiron 11-3162 released on February 16, 2016.

ac adapter error with annoying beeps

so i had this laptop lying around in my house, and i said "why not make this laptop useful again?"
i got the laptop, plugged it in and i am greeted with an annoying alarm beeping sound with an ac adapter error. the beeping was very loud too!
there also was no operating system, so i decided to install linux mint, which was slow, but that doesnt matter. the beeping stops when it boots into an os by the way.
the error message is this:
"
The AC power adapter wattage and type cannot be determined.
The battery may not charge.
The system will adjust the performance to match the power available.
Please connect a Dell 45 W AC adapter or greater for the best system performance.
"
i was using a third party adapter. later, i plugged in an official dell 45w ac adapter, as it suggested, and the same error happened.
any help would greatly be appreciated!
(specs are 32gb emmc storage, 2gb ram, intel celeron n3050 with integrated graphics)

Hi @daftrio

Since Linux works OK try running a upower or acpi command to check the status of the battery

This error usually means the laptop can’t detect the charger through the center ID pin. Even with an original Dell adapter, the issue is often a faulty DC jack, damaged ID pin, or broken charging circuit on the motherboard. Try another genuine Dell charger first. If the error persists, replace the DC-in jack/charging port, a common failure on older Dell models. The beeping and performance throttling will stop once the system recognizes the adapter properly. Also update the BIOS if possible, but only when the adapter is detected. Otherwise, hardware repair is the real fix.
