2007 Jetta Yellow lighElectro-mechanical power steering assist reduced

I have a 2007 VW Wolfsburg edition 2.5L. Today for the first time a yellow light came on the dash. In the VW manual it states. Electro-mechanical power steering assist reduced - contact you authorized Volkswagen dealer or a qualified workshop.

Only recent service was a new Interstate battery was installed March 2025 (7 months ago). Car is steering OK and seems normal. Is there any simple steps to take before I bring into a dealer? Seems online I am seeing to reset the sensor or check wireing. Let me know your thoughts.
