When I connect to pc it not open drive but drive indicator light on

It's hard to say what might be going on, but I'd say the first thing is to determine whether it's the SATA-to-USB adapter or the hard drive itself. First you'll want to disassemble the storage drive and separate the adapter and the drive.

After that you'll need to troubleshoot both parts to see which one isn't working. If you have or can borrow another drive, plug that into the adapter and see if it works. You might also consider buying an inexpensive SATA-to-USB adapter off eBay, AliExpress, Amazon or any other seller that suits you and see if the drive works with a different adapter.

If you have a PC you can connect the drive to one of your internal HD plugs and test it that way, or you can use a SATA adapter to plug it into a USB port. Either way the software should detect it and allow you to run the drive tests. If it doesn't show up with one method, try the other. If it can't be detected at all, it may be dead; there's not a lot you can do if that's the case. Drives can be repaired, but it would probably cost more than the drive's worth.
