My hard drive showing in my computer but unable to read data

By "the drive shows in my computer" does it mean you click on it and asks you to initialise the drive? or is it doing something else?

I'll assume you are using Windows, in which case right click on the drive listed (where you are saying it shows there), and go to properties, then tools and click on "check"of the error detection tab (I think it is called like that). Disk management might be good too to tell you the health of the drive, but it might (or in your case, it will tell you) there is no partition.

On macOS or linux there are tools you can use. On macOS Disk utility has an option called "first aid" and linux has a lot of different ones with similar functions.

The check might tell you if there are bad sectors or missing partition tables. If the disk has lost the partition table, you will need a data recovery software to allow you to reconstruct it or read the data off the drive.
