3.5 CU. FT. Top-Load Washer with Dual Action Agitator. Released 2016.

Unit doesn't fill with cold water and will not advance to spin cycle

My washer will not fill all the way and time out if I use anything other than the "warm" option for water temperature. Everytime I check on a load the clothes will be wet and the light will be on rinse.

Hi @rjlandrus

Here's the tech sheet for the washer.

Run the Service Diagnostic test modes as shown on p.2 and check what error code (if any) is being displayed by the tests.

The Fault/Error Code Display Method chart on p.3 shows how to interpret the status lights (if there are any) to know what the error code is.

On p.6-p.7 you'll find the error code list and their possible causes.

If you find the problem and it is a faulty part that needs replacing, here's the parts list that is useful. Locate the wanted in the list and not the manufacturer's part number that is shown with it. Search online for the part number, to find suppliers that suit you best.

Went through this last night and found two faults. F8E1 "no fill, long fill". Went through the steps and found my cold tap wasn't working (this I knew). Test had me ohm out the valves for the water and they both tested ok as far as ohm value goes. This leads to replacing the control board so looks like I will need one of them

The other error was F7E5 "shifter fault". Was not able to get through all of the testing for this code, however I was able to use the "Automatic Test Mode", and individually test all of the modes and function and everything ran except again for the cold water tap.

Going to at least try a new control board so if anyone has any experience ordering parts please feel free to chime in. The P/N on the board is W11101098. Saw something with one supplier that leads me to believe that there may be other versions of this board that could work as well.

Did you check the cold water valve operate wiring for continuity from the control board connector J9/5 to the valve, you never said? See p.12 of the tech sheet linked above.

As suggested above, once you know the part number, the best way is to search online for the part number.

In your machine the board is W11101098 (supplier examples only).

Of interest is that there are 3 different Amana NTW4516FWx models i.e. NTW4516FW0, NTW4516FW1 & NTW4516FW4

According to 3 different parts suppliers the control board for the NTW4516FW0 and NTW4516FW1 models originally was part number W10868064 which has been superseded by part number W11124710 whereas the part number for an NTW4516FW4 model was W1157857, superseded by W11603811.

Given that the control board in your washer is different yet again, what is the full model number of your washer as the ifixit device name you selected doesn't show it either?

I did check the ohm reading at the plug with it unplugged from the board and got over 1kohm which according to the manual meant a good valve. I had thought about splicing the cold tap to the warm tap or even looking for some kind of relay I may have lying around to energize the cold tap. The unit model number is NTW4516FW3 Serial: CX2904596. Thank you again for the reply.

Got home and switched leads on the hot and cold taps and put it in test mode. Hot would open up with the other leeds but cold still a trickle. does that mean its the solenoid?

@rjlandrus

Seems like it.

Even though electrically it tests OK with a meter, doesn't mean that mechanically it works OK.

If there's still a problem after you replace the water inlet valves the control board has been superseded by W11170317.

I've edited the "parts list" link my original answer above so that it now shows the parts for your exact model.
