Sim card holder will not release

I am unable to release the sim cardholder from the phone. The sim card eject tool inserts all the way in without releasing the card holder.

Apple says that its broken inside.

How do I repair this issue to enable the holder to released using the eject tool?

this is the part I think you need to replace to eject the simtray. Try also a paperclip with a little curl on the end so that you can hook it into the hole on the simtray. You'll need to follow the guide for opening the iphone/front display removal so that you can replace the "flipper" or remove the logicboard to get to the back panel more easily. If you have trouble finding the part let me know..I've got several lying about, but I live in the UK.

As far as i know, you would have to buy the logic board.

Possible Answer

The only reason i say this is because the SIM tray is attached to the board permanently. and the ejection mechanism is built into the tray. That being said, one possibility is to go through the disassemble steps outlined here all the way to step #13, which should get you in good eyesight of the SIM tray, and its faulty ejector.

From there, you just need to get your DIY geekery on and see if you can wedge the ejector back in front of the gold bracket that pushes the SIM tray out. but be aware of poking in the wrong places, and static electricty. One little zap and your logic board is barbeque.

I've given a "-" here for wrong information. The eject mechanism isn't to do with the logic board. I think what you are referring to is the gold contact that recognises the sim being inserted onto the logic board.(sort of z shaped at the far end of the sim slot) The actual eject mechanism is a little plastic "flipper" that is attached to the rear case near the bezel by a single screw. It can be replaced for little money on it's own, you can live without it by using a paperclip to angle sideways onto the simtray and lever out, or you could buy the entire rear case, give the phone a new lease of life. Personally? How often do you remove a sim? The other alternative is to open the iphone/remove front panel and simply use a finger to push the sim out manually.
