SMD resister blew out in my HP 0957 2271 AC Adapter

Want to replace but can't identify it. I don't know if anyone could help me with this but I got to try anyway.

I have a transformer the stopped working, it had a fuse that was dead that I already changed and this small smd resister which seemed to pop from the mark it left on the case. I want to try to replace the SMD, but I don't know which kind it is since the number is all burned off. so I'm posting this photo showing which one it is in hope of someone being able to tell me which SMD to put there.

Thanks in advance

P.S.

If needed I could take pictures closer or from the other side, whatever helps ^_^

Finalpaladin, what printer are we looking at and which board is it? Is that a R48 just below the resistor? It MIGHT help to see the other side as well.

por

the printer is an HP Officejet 6500. the board itself is the transformer (AC adaptor) of it's power cord. The resister is indeed R48 . I added the photo up above of the front. The fuse I switched already is the one visible on the upper left side corner if it helps.

Finalpaladin, I just opened my HP 0957 2271 AC adapter. The resistor on R48 bears the marking 2R4 on it. This of course cross reference to a 2.4Ω resistor. You can get these at places like this. Not a bad price compared to a new AC adapter ;-) Hope this helps, good luck.

Thanks a bunch man. I'll let you know if it works ^_^

And thanks for the link. I'm going to buy it downtown, but this is awesome for stuff I can't find. Thanks a whole bunch

Thank you for accepting my answer. Good luck to you.

The same resistor blew on my PSU. After replacing the resistor it just blows/pops again. I've also replaced the 2 diodes which are near the edge of the circuit board. I know this is an old thread but am wondering if anybody has any ideas?

por

I did the same.

Replaced SMD resistor pops again, the same as replaced fuse marked as F1 (F4AH250VP).

Please any help?

Hi Finalpaladin,

I know, my answer is 4 years too late, but I have a different one from oldturkey03: R48 on my HP 0957-2271 has 1.0 Ohm (1R0) and not 2.4 Ohms, see photo below.

I just opened my broken HP 0957-2271 power supply to look for a visible damage, didn't find anything, then searched for a repair on Google and here I am...

Does relacing the resistor and the fuse works for someone ?

I also noticed that one of the diode is bad: the current pass through it by the two ways. The other diode blocks the current in one way and show 0.2 on the probe. I removed one leg for testing
