won't play games but will play dvd's don't have original dvd drive
continuing on from the title I don't have the original DVD drive to flash the DVD key to the new one because I bought it used

If you don't have the original drive PCB anymore, your only options are to either find a new motherboard that comes with a matching drive PCB and install that drive PCB in your drive (easiest); or you could mod/RGH your console and then flash the disc drive, however that requires a lot of difficult soldering, and I wouldn't recommend it at all if you don't have much soldering experience.

If you replaced the drive, it may not work due to the fact Xbox'es use a unique laser to read the disk
"Unique" refers to specially programed laser readers.
