Battery Replacement can't recognize battery serial.

I bought a battery off Amazon. I changed it with no problems and it worked for a bit. After an update on my phone, the battery is no longer recognized by the iPhone and wont charge. Apparently apple did this so that you only go to them for battery replacements. If I buy a battery from you, will this also happen? Or will your batteries be accepted with the new update?

Do you have time original battery? Also, where have you read that Apple is blocking battery replacements? I have a few iPhones with eternal batteries of various qualities and price points and even the latest iOS 16.4.1 shows nothing but a scary warning. Even with cheap non OEM batteries it charges.

Hi Juan,

I've been keeping an eye on this sort of issue for a while now, and as far as we know, there are no hardware or software restrictions on replacing the battery on an iPhone X. Starting with the XS you will get a warning that the battery may not be genuine. In order to get rid of that warning you have to remove the BMS, or Battery Management System from the old battery and solder/weld it onto a new battery cell.

You might try a full restore of the phone to see if that clears up the error you're seeing; otherwise it's possible the BMS on your replacement battery has failed and you'll need to replace the battery yet one more time. I've used many different brands from eBay, Amazon and AliExpress and have yet to see the kind of issue you're describing on an iPhone X.

Even in the cases where Apple is issuing warnings about batteries, the battery still operates correctly; you just lose the ability to view the battery health information and you have to ignore the stupid pop-up warning that's generated for a week or so.

Hi there,

I’ve been experiencing the same issue with a recent battery replacement for my iPhone 12.

It does turn on but there is that warning as described before and additionally the phone works for 2 minutes and then shuts down.

I charged it for 7 hours but when I turned it on it did the same.

@diego56920 It's quite possible you've got a battery with a problem in the BMS that's causing the reboot. See the Kernel Panics wiki page and see if there are any panic logs. If you find one, start yourself a new question and post the first page of the log and we'll help you decipher it and figure out what you need to do to fix it.
