Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2019)

A new version of the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 was announced in February 2019, with Android 9.0 Pie (upgradable to Android 10), the Exynos 7904 chipset and an IPS display with an unchanged resolution. The rear flash is removed, S-Pen support is dropped and the battery is smaller, while the front camera is upgraded to 5 MP and the speakers are now stereo. Models numbers: SM-T515 & SM-T510.

SAMGUNG GALAXY TAB A7 10.4 T-500

I just ordered a new LCD flex cable as I was going to hook it up, I know there was 1 broken/damaged pin on the FPC LCD connector, the LCD side where the flex cable slides into, it's the flat end.

I HAVE TRIED HOOKING IT UP "AS IS" AND JUST BLACK SCREEN HOWEVER I KNOW ITS ON BC MY ALARMS WENT OFF THIS MORNING

Just wondering if there is anyway to get around this or need a FPC connector

Hi @southernmama84,

Have you tried connecting the LCD display to see what effect having a missing pin 7 has on the display?

Sometimes not all wires are used but mostly they are though.

Just curious.

Yes black screen but it on bc I can hear alarms going off.

Hi @southernmama84 ,

Unless you're very good at micro-soldering, replacing the connector (if you can find the correct one) is not an easy job.

Probably cheaper and easier to replace the screen.

Search online for SM-T500 LCD screen to find suppliers that suit you.

You would have to access where that missing pin connects to on the display pcb (at a convenient soldering point on the board) and run a wire from there to where the pin 7 wire in the flex cable connects to on the motherboard (again at a convenient point as connecting it to the connector or the cable would be extremely difficult due to the closeness of the wires) so as to bypass the missing connection

To do this would require the schematics for the tablet to find out where the pin 7 wire connects to at both ends. I couldn't find them, you may have better luck.
