Can I change the back cover on the iPad 3G?

GSM iPad 2 with 16, 32, or 64 GB of storage, and a Dual Core A5 Processor. Model Number A1396. Repair is complicated and requires heat and prying.

Hello, I have a 64GB iPad 2 "Wi-Fi + 3G", and I'm wondering if I can change the back metal (aluminum?) cover on it.

As the kids have dropped it many times on the floor that I'm fortunate that the screen hasn't cracked.

The corners of the iPad are heavily damaged though, so are the sides.

Is there a way that I can simply buy another cover and replace it? Or will I have to dig through all the components of the iPad.

replacing the backcover isn't easy - you have to remove everything
