I can't open anything on my computer. It starts up but won't even let me open help, disk utilities, nothing it just says nothing in Mac os is affected and when I try to reopen I just get the same message and it closes whatever I've tried to open.

Im really new to this, how do I reinstall, my cd/DVD isn't reading. Can I make it read from the terminal command area?
