I tried to boot up my old Macintosh 165c but it just displays a blank screen.

Thanks!

Update (04/16/23)

I found that the issue was a coroded battery. There is some blue stuff on the battery pins. Now I just need to find a way to fix it. If any of you could help, that would be appriciated.

I would post this as a comment but comments do not allow pictures :(

Could you show us a picture?

@coolguy, that is correct. But we can post this as an update to your question. One really important thing here, we need good clear pictures to assist you with that. If there is corrosion on the battery, there may also be corroded traces and possibly other components. I would think that the capacitors on this one have leaked/corroded as well. Post some really good pictures and add those to your question. Adicionar imagens a uma pergunta já existente

@coolguy yes, it sure is corroded. Time for some baking soda and vinegar, a small brush and off you go cleaning all your corroded parts. I bet there are more :-)

Actually, when I plug directley to power, it still does not seem to work.

I dont have the CD drive.

Also i will do all of this tommorow as i need to sleep.

por

Without the CD drive or the installation disk, your best bet would be to look on eBay for a drive that already formatted and a system installed.

por

I think i'm gonna look online for a drive and manually install MacOS 7.1 on it. I found at download at winworldpc.com, is it trustable?

por

I have heard mixed reviews of that website. If you cannot get the original disks, then I would try archive.org @coolguy123

Given no other information, I would go with "failed hard drive".
