Stuck on support.apple.com/iPhone/restore... but can't restore.

My wife's beloved 6s Plus shows the black cable-to-MacBook Air screen with the restore URL. I followed the power/home button instructions with no joy. Most online recommendations involve using iTunes, but of course, iTunes is gone. Clearly screen works, and logic board works enough to show Apple logo (but then goes back to restore). Is this something that can be fixed by some magic reboot process or do I need to replace components? My guess is those components would be either the logic board or the lightning port, or both. Any thoughts or recommendations? Thanks!

Update (04/28/2022)

So I managed to get the phone to connect to the Finder (I downloaded and tried launching the latest iTunes build, but that didn't work). Unfortunately, I only got partially into the restore, and it's been stuck at 2-3% for 12 hours. So is this a hardware issue? If so, what needs replacing. The Lightning port obviously works. I could replace the logic board, but it looks like iFixit only sells 16GB units and my wife's phone is a 128GB unit, so that might be an issue. Any suggestions?

You use a Mac, correct?

@andrewsawesome Yep, M1 Air Monterey.

by "itunes is gone" do you mean that it moved in the newer OS? In that case you should find your iPhone in the "Finder" on the left side.

Yes. But unfortunately, the iPhone doesn't register in the Finder. I thought perhaps iTunes had more diagnostic features and they weren't moved to the Finder implementation, but I'm also concerned it’s a hardware issue, which is why it's not showing up at all on the Mac. That's why I was thinking of whether I needed to replace the Lightning connector vs. the logic board. But since the phone gives the restore prompt, I'm guessing that's enough to generally prove the logic board is functional. What do you think?

Thanks, but the ipows.me site doesn't respond. And iTunes is no longer part of MacOS.
