Exposure to lithium smoke

I just replaced my old iPhone 6S battery. Whilst the old battery was sitting outside of the phone it suddenly started sparking then quickly caught fire. My instincts kicked in and as I didn’t want to burn down my house I quickly grabbed it and ran outside and thew it. Fortunately I only had to travel a short distance. While I was holding it it emitted a serious amount of smoke and throughout the ordeal I inhaled some of the fumes; albeit a minimal amount, just enough to slightly taste it (I held my breath most of the time - for as long as possible).

There is very little information published online about the effects of lithium smoke exposure. I haven’t experienced any symptoms or irritation, but I was wondering if there was anyone out there with any knowledge about on this topic, such as potential long term effects? Obviously there’s not a whole lot you can do to avoid some exposure as lithium tends to combust extremely swiftly. And because of the measures I took I don’t think I was exposed to enough of the toxins to have an effect, but I’m sure there are others out there who will also be interested to know the potential health risks?

Note: the adhesive tabs for the battery broke during removal, so I had to apply heat to remove it. In doing so I slightly bent the battery, this likely shorted the battery.
