Trackpad key is loose / not working properly anymore

Hi,

My Macbook Air (A1304, late 2008 model) was in a bag where it got compressed quite a bit. The lid was closed, and there seemed to be a lot of pressure on it.

As a consequence, the trackpad key does not work as normal anymore. It's quite loose, especially on the right side. It is also hard to click it, but not impossible.

Has anyone got an idea what to do?

I am out of warranty (had Apple Care, but it expired), and I have never disassembled a Macbook.

Now, while looking at pictures from the inside of my computer, I noticed that there seem to be some kind of brackets holding the trackpad. Maybe the one on the right side just got a little bit bended by the pressure? Maybe it would be totally sufficient to open the Mac and bend it back? Could it be THAT easy?

Or could my problem relate to the "bad hinge problem" with early Macbook Airs so I could try to get a repair without warranty?

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Michael
