How can you tell the phone is turning on without the screen? Check inside for damage on the connectors and make sure they’re all secure and see if that works. If not, try swap out the screen as that’s most likely the issue in a case where the phone will boot but screen won’t turn on.

I can tell because it has those lights on the front, plus it vibrates. It also gives me the amber alert sounds, which are unsettling.
@burritowhynot Yeah in that case the screen has likely been damaged and needs to be replaced. Even if the front layer of glass isn't cracked or anything, the LCD panel underneath has probably been damaged in a drop or something similar. Replacing the entire display assembly would almost definitely resolve this.
