Replaced battery, but won't charge and screen has a streak now.

Hi!

I replaced the battery in my iPod 5th Generation (Video). Tried plugging it in to a wall outlet: nothing. The Hold switch is off as well. Tried plugging it in to my laptop, still nothing. There is also a small streak on the screen that wasn't there before. Can someone please help me figure out what is going wrong and maybe let me know if there are any businesses in Southern New Jersey that do iPod 5th gen repairs? I *L O V E* my 5th gen and refuse to ever get a newer iPod as I am not a fan of them
