MacBook Pro 15 Inch 2012 Charging but won't turn on

Hey guys,

So this is a weird one. I’ve read through numerous of related questions/answers and i feel like the GPU could be at fault here but I’m not sure at all.

So I was using the macbook perfectly fine without any issues and the battery was low, so before i could plug it in, it went to sleep, like always, and i plugged it in and closed the screen.

The next day, it was as if it was dead. Pressing the power button would light up the keyboard but nothing would come on in the screen.

So I tried running all the SMC/NVRAM reset commands and tried everything, even a power cycle after disconnecting the battery. Then the keyboard backlight also stopped turning on. When plugging in the charger, it charges. Turning on the machine, I can see the sleep light on and it turns off after a while. The battery indicator is also working.

Connecting an external display doesn’t work either.

Is there anything that could be done to revive this machine?

Thank You.

Give this a try, open the system and carefully disconnect the battery. Now with nothing plugged in press the power button a good 15 secs. That allows the logic board to fully discharge.

Now plug the battery back in and flip it back over so you can reach the keys. Now we want to restart the system but! we want to press the T key as well to enter into Target Disk Mode. Are able to get into it? You should see a FireWire or Thunderbolt Icon on your screen.

Tried that, and did 30 seconds, but still no luck. It's still a black screen. The sleep light stays on, the fans are spinning, but no sign of life.

Even tried shining the flash light towards the screen to see if it's a backlit issue but no luck.

Well I can tell you its not likely a GPU failure as this trick by-passes the discreet NVIDEA GPU using the built-in Intel graphics engine (HD Graphics 4000) So you have a deeper issue here.
