Replaced battery but Battery not charging

Just replaced the battery with a replacement from here. When I plug the charging cable in, the charging symbol appears next to the battery percentage in the top bar but when I click on it says ‘Battery not charging’. Here are the Coconut Battery results. Any help gratefully received. I tried resetting SMC by unplugging the battery from the logic board (I didn’t take it out completely) then pressing the power button for 5 seconds, then reconnecting the battery.

Update (01/12/2021)

I have had the laptop plugged in for 1 hour and it has gone up from 62%-66%..? But still saying Battery is not charging.

Let’s review a few issues you could be facing.

The MagSafe cord and connector maybe worn or damaged inspect them for bumps or cuts and for the contacts are the clean and the four outside contacts at the same elevation?

The outside pins are damaged!

Now looking at your system how does the MagSafe port look? Nice and clean and are the contacts nice and shiny?

Clearly one contact is in bad shape here!

Is your MagSafe a REAL Apple unit?? Most people can’t tell the knockoffs from the real!

Lastly what is the color of the MagSafe LED Amber or Green or not lit?

Hey Dan, firstly thanks for replying. Did the Coconut Battery results mean anything to you? Seemed to me like the battery is ok? I should also say that I did leave the cable plugged in for a while last night and after 3 hours the percentage had gone up from 62-64%. But it was still saying battery not charging.

To answer your questions:

1. The MagSafe cord and connector - Cord doesn't seem to have any really noticeable issues, it is old. Connector pins all looked pretty straight.

2. MagSafe port - I couldnt see any debris in there, its a bit dirty but I scrapped around gently and nothing came out. Sockets look ok and pretty straight. Im assuming its a real Magsafe unit as it came when I bought the laptop directly from Apple.

3. MagSafe LED - its green but faintly green. I feel like it has been a lot brighter green previously when plugged in.

Not good ;-{ The charging logic within your system has issues! The level of charge and the fact the MagSafe is not at its full brightness is also telling me your MagSafe charger was most likely a knockoff damaging your charging logic.

This will need someone with micro soldering and access to the needed SMT parts to fix your system.

Most likely the isl6259 charge controller and associated mosfets that wear at same time. It’s cheap to do but does require a eBay spec hot air station at max heat and eBay lcd microscope.
