PC3-8500 RAM instead of PC2-6400?

I'm wondering if I can use the 2x2GB PC3-8500 RAM modules I've got left after upgrading a new Mac Mini (2011) in a 20" iMac (iMac8,1, early 2008), which is spec'd to use PC2-6400 modules. Is the 8500 just capable of higher bus speeds, or are they really incompatible?

Solução escolhida

Won't work--the Mac Mini ram is 204 pin and the iMac ram is 200 pin. They are physically incompatible. Your best bet would be to either to sell the PC3-8500 modules and but the correct ones or to find someone to trade ram with you. Good luck.

Thank you! And right, I should have read the Wikipedia entry properly — I saw both (DDR2 and DDR3) mentioned 240 pins, but it's actually SO-DIMMs. Plus there's also "DDR3 DIMMs have 240 pins and are electrically incompatible with DDR2."

So I guess I should have done my "homework" first — sorry... :)
