Can I put a GSM motherboard in my CDMA phone?

I have a US Cellular Galaxy S5 (G900R4) and would like to change out the motherboard. Am I able to take a Verizon (G900V) GSM motherboard and replace my CDMA motherboard?

So as long as the device is not locked to Verizon, you should be able to just take the SIM card that was used on a GSM phone (AT&T, T-Mobile) and work just fine, without having to replace the mother board. This phone is LTE capable, which means that can work world-wide with a GSM signal and SIM card, again, so as long as the device is not locked to Verizon.

At this stage, since the device is almost 6 years old, I would seriously consider just getting a newer Galaxy device for a cheaper price. The “A” and “J” series are quite affordable, specially three year old ones.

The problem with switching the mother board, is when it comes to retaining the IMEI information, and is not worth the headache. Plain suggestion: try placing the SIM card first onto the device and make a test call. If it does not work, then we know you have other options.

Any questions, let me know.
