It could be a dead backlight. Can you hear the volume on the tv? Try turning it on and put a flashlight next to the screen, can you see any picture?

Ok so a few questions, does the tv make any noise at all? did the tv get damaged at all? and when red light do you mean the power light? try to provide me with a few more information on the situation if you can and i can go from there
