Steven P. Jobs died

, the visionary co-founder of Apple who helped usher in the era of personal computers and then led a cultural transformation in the way music, movies and mobile communications were experienced in the digital age, died Wednesday. He was 56. " Source

I do know that this is not a question, but I felt that this was the quickest way to inform this community about a phenomenal loss. Some of us on here still remember having worked with Apple II bout the same time as the TRS-80 and the Commodore and the change that these inventions brought to all of us. Anybody remember having gone to the store and written the first programs like this

10 CLS

20 PRINT “HELLO WORLD”

30 GOTO 20

It is a good time to reflect and may this great person rest in peace. Thank you Steve Jobs.

I will of course delete this as a question and do apologize for using it as a quick notification

Don't you dare delete this! We wouldn't be here nor would this site exist with out what Steve Jobs did.

I know, but some weisenheimer is going to bellyache that this is not a repair related question. I just felt that Steve Jobs is a true Man of destiny, and there have not been to many of them in my lifetime, a true American Icon.

There is no right or wrong answer to this, so I accepted the one that put most of our sentiments it all into a few sentences. Thank you all...

R.I.P. Steve. Apple will never be the same without him. He was Apple. He started it, he created it, and he was the man who made the home computer.

Hi @pccheese

George, you're up too late. Is that why you are commenting on a 5 year old post?

Also Steve Wozniak had a bit to do with it as well, as far as Apple was concerned.

Greatest innovator of our time. I dont want say hes on the same level because its hard to compare different generations but I dare say he's the Thomas Edison of our time. I'm not saying he invented something as impactfull as lightbulbs, but if there were a close comparison it would be Jobs.

Steve totally changed my life. I got a Apple in 1979 and believed that some day every one would be using a computer. You fixed your Mac yourself because there were no techs. Steve even mailed you back before there was email. For so many years mac users were considered rebels, only the fringe group ran Apples but they were fiercely loyal. I cast my lot and life with you. There was heart break and Apple almost went under when Jobs went to Next. Through good times, bad times when Apple almost went down to the largest capitalized company in the world. Steve Jobs truly represents the American dream, from an idea and a unit built in the garage to the most powerful corporation in the United States. Steve you have been my hero for 30 years and you did it all without a hint of scandal. You and your guidance will be long remembered. You truly were a world changer. I'll miss you very much.

Well said Mayer, I don' think I could put it any better.

I'm glad that the first place I read this news was here on a site that deals mainly with fixing things that Steve Jobs has helped create.

I was a small child when the first Apple came out, dad went and bought a later model for his school, learned how to use it himself (as Mayer said there were no techs) and in the holidays we had it at our house. Still remember being amazed by them. Took me 30 years to get my own...as I've said before, I don't know what I did before then, they have literally changed my life/style.

There are so few great thinkers out there that manage to have their ideas turned into reality, it makes Steve an awe inspiring person. Let's hope that he has inspired someone else to live their dream.

I Don't really care that this post is 7 years old. I'm still paying my respects. Either way, Steve Jobs was a good man. I think he would actually stand up for repair, anyone feel that devices were more repairable around his time? exactly. Then Tim Crook took over. he was probably a good secretary under the control of Steve but now apple is the biggest anti-repair company. I feel this would've upset Steve Jobs. Well, I hope you lived a good life. you definitely lead an inspiring life.

If only Steve was still here… we could still upgrade RAM and storage in our MacBook Pro’s. He would not be happy about iCloud locks, either. I don’t care that this post is over 10 years old.
