The right-hand speaker crackles. Googling this suggests the cone membrane has come loose. Piano music in particular is painful to listen to. Can the speakers be replaced or are they part of a bigger module. I have Apple Care and the product is still covered but I have no hope of getting to a service centre. Can I do this at home.

Sadly you’re between a rock and a hard place ;-{
Parts for your system are as rare as a Dodo birds egg on the open market. Between this being such a new system so parts are just not available yet, COVID also kicks us as well as its messed up the supply chain. So while it’s not an overly hard to replace (glued in) we just can’t find the parts.
For now use a set of bluetooth speakers. If you really want to get your internal speaker fixed you’ll need to find your way to an Apple Store. An Apple authorized repair center will only ship your system to the nearest Apple repair depot unlike a busier Apple Store which should be able to fix on site (they too may ship it out).
