What are the reasons why the battery to my Dell Inspiron 7378 lasts only 2 hours? It’s three years old, so it’s possible that it’s just due to age, but I want to be sure before I buy a new battery.

Since you mentioned your laptop is about three years old,
Well it is possible for worn batteries if you keep using, charge, and recharge.
Furthermore it is a built in battery.
2hours for this battery age IMO it is quite good, my company users cannot hold more than one hour.
but of course, it also depends on the configuration of the computer and usage.
you can check on your battery health in the bios page.
Power ON computer, press F2 quickly
Select General > battery information
