I am just getting into fixing broken ds lites. I replaced the touchscreen and it worked great till i realized the plastic cover for the touchscreen was a different color. When I replaced the plastic cover the touchscreen no longer works. What did I do wrong?

So apparently the to what I can gather the D.S. Lite’s touch screen is a resistive touchscreen made of two sheets. When removing the plastic overlay the top sheet often comes off essentially destroying the touchscreen. Be careful not to remove that layer if you are going to be taking off the plastic frame.

i assume that layer is the one who receive all the scratches... there is any way to replace it? does it have a special name? so if i stick the frame directly to the touchscreen it won't work ,isn't it?
