Unable to start MacBook Air 13" Model No. A 1466

Model: MacBook Air 13"

Version: macOS 10.15.3

My MacBook Air 13” model no. is A 1466. I have switched it on and opened a document. While I was reading it, the system switched off and the screen went blank. I thought the battery must have gone flat and needed recharging. I have plugged in the charger to the mains supply. The charging indicator turned green and after a moment turned red. I have repeated the process from different electrical points but the same thing happened again and again. I have tried the Shift+Ctrl+Option +Power Switch methods (using the keys on the left and the right side) as suggested in the website. It still remains unresponsive. Please suggest what am I to do? Thanks

At this point with a dead system its hard to narrow down without deeper testing within the logic boards charging logic. Given the state on the lock down you may need to just replace parts and hope! Your system is no different than the 2015 models so you could just replace it with one from that series MacBook Air 13" (Early 2015) 1.6 GHz Logic Board, your SSD would still work with it.

Now we also need to look at what did you in! I’m suspecting you had a cloned charger! So I would replace it as well with a real Apple unit. OEM MagSafe Chargers vs Cheap Imposters: Teardown for Truth Order a replacement directly from Apples online store. I also recommend you get a good surge suppressor outlet strip just in case you got a power surge which is also possible.

Mine is not a cloned charger unit. It is original accessory which came along with the MacBook Air 13” model no. is A 1466 purchased in the USA.

@unarayanadas - Even I can't tell the difference between the real and the knockoffs!

While it was what came with the system if you bought it used then you really can't trust it wasn't replaced at some point.

At one company I had worked for it was so bad we collected all of the systems and their chargers better than 600 systems! Using just bought chargers directly from Apple as our references we used a scale to weigh them (the only true way to tell - the heaver ones are real). We then marked the good ones with the companies logo with a branding iron! Just like the old west marking their steer.

What we discovered is people tended to share their chargers and at meetings might have picked up someone else's or lost it along the way picking up a replacement on their own!

Once returned the charger would often get thrown in to a bucket getting mixed up with others and as the print for the wattage is not easy to see we also branded the Wattage so it is very clear.

I have not bought a used one. It was brand new.
