Tablet won't stay on unless plugged in

So I have his RCA Viking Pro 10 Tablet for a few years. Just recently it will not stay on unless it's plugged in. It seems to charge fine when plugged in but if it's at 100% and I unplug it it seems to go down 1% every second and then shuts off.

I don't want to have to buy another battery because I don't know how to replace it and I don't have the correct tools also it seems ridiculous to spend $35 for a new battery when a new tablet is $50.

Could it really be the battery because it's fine and stays charged when the cord is plugged into the wall?

Sadly, it’s most likely the battery that’s bad.

It works as normal when plugged into the wall because it’s taking the electricity directly from the wall but can’t store it in the battery.

I understand that you feel like it’s too expensive or not worth buying a new battery, but that’s the only thing I can think of right now.

I think it’s always better to repair broken stuff, it’s more resource-efficient to make a few new parts than making everything again when the rest is working. But it’s up to you what how you want to do it.

So what you need to do is to get a new battery or if you’re fine with having it plugged to the wall you can keep on doing so.
