Why has my ps4 started overheating recently

My fan has never been a problem though regardless I clean the vents and recently I cleaned the fan. However, around a week ago I I accidentaly unplugged my ps4 pro as it was turning off and the data on the account logged in had corrupted (luckily I got it back) but I realised that my fan had become incredibly loud on games that it was usually silent on. Now it has began to prompt me to turn my ps4 off as it is overheating and as of today it powered off due to overheating. I have tried cleaning the fan and vents to no avail. After some research I've found that it may be dry thermal paste or a weak shoulder with the APU.
