Something had been rattling inside my laptop and it started having issues booting up so I opened it up and this came out. It seems it can be reattached but I'm not sure where.

That is part of the trackpad connector. Flip it over and the other side will look like the guide photos. I replace these a lot rather than replacing the whole trackpad.

@danj I still get the older machines to fix so I am more familiar with them ;-)
@mayer - No I fix them just a brain cramp day ;-} Got my head in something much bigger this week. I'll email you what it was!

Someone left a production tool connector broken inside your device, with chips on it.
This can have some worth. Sell it to the hackers maybe?

Looks like the wifi module, does the machine start up? What feature is missing? It's usually an integrated Bluetooth/Wireless module or some device xontroller. But it's something like that. There is a socket for it on the motherboard.
