wifi greyed out, but works after some time after booting
A customer sent us a phone with audio IC problems. I noticed wifi is greyed out as well, so I checked info in the settings menu. It lagged and didn’t enter the info page, which is an indication there are problems with the wifi chip. Read this on a forum.
After a few minutes, wifi will work but will be bugged. The phone says the wifi is off while it’s on.
When I restart the iphone wifi is greyed out again. Does anyone have experience with this? The second phone in 2 weeks that have this problem. First time the customer came back and saying her wifi was broken again. I reset the network settings and it worked the first time so I didn’t read too much into it and didn’t charge her money.
Sounds like a wifi chip problem, but I wanna make sure. Repairing the audio IC isn’t an issue but I don’t wanna make things worse after heating up the board when repairing audio IC.
EDIT: Just repaired the audio IC and left it like that. The customer is aware wifi can fail any moment but didn’t want to pay for the repair. Can’t do anything else than that.
Esta é uma boa pergunta?
Have this same problem, do you have a microphone issue by any chance?

The wifi chip would need to be replaced along with the NAND removed and reprogrammed with the new wifi Mac address and put back onto the phone. This along with a audio IC problem would make it economically not viable for repair.
Though intermittently working like this could be an unstable power line rail on the logic board that controls provides power to the wifi chip.

Took out the mainboard and saw the board has already been repaired under a microscope. I can see jumpers at the baseband PMU and god knows what has been done. It looks like a poorly refurbished phone. Not worth the risk so will just give back the phone.
