Samsung 4k TV turns on then immediately off and just repeats?

Hello All,

So my 4k Samsung UN55KU6300F just went out over the weekend.

I didn’t think anything of it, but it tries to constantly turn it self on then off.

I’ve done initial resets and everything and still nothing.

When I try to turn it on the tv will actually turn on for a second and you can see the screen light up then it just shuts it self off and will repeat as if i’m constantly trying to turn it on.

The Red light stays solid then just flashes once when I attempt to turn it on. But otherwise it stays solid like it would normally.

I’ve opened the tv up and both boards look find, none the the capacitors look blown or swollen. There are also no burn marks of any kind that I can see.

I’ve been looking this up all weekend and most of the time people were able to spot a blown capacitor. Or simple resets ended up helping them. And I couldn’t find anyone with the same issue that I was having, it all seemed to be close but not anything the exact same.

So what troubleshooting techniques are there that I can try and pin point the issue?

Power transistors and diodes are common failure components in switch mode power supplies. Voltage and continuity tests. May require unsoldering components for testing. Beware residual high voltage may still be present on the filter capacitors even after the unit has been disconnected from it's AC power supply; safety requirements dictate discharging capacitors before working on circuit board.

@captainkirk13 remove the back from your TV and disconnect the power board from the main board and see if you can get the TV to stay on and that the backlight for the LCD is on. Post some good pictures of your boards with your question so that we can see what you see. That way we can try to assist you with further troubleshooting.

So I’ve added additional pictures.

I’ve tested it without the power board connected to the main board. And surprisingly enough it lit up perfectly fine and stayed on with no issues.

What would be the next troubleshooting step?

Since it lit up the backlight that would me the power supply does supply the voltage. now you need to measure the voltages going from the power supply to the main board. Use teh legend for the connector printed on the board and compare that to the values you are getting. If that checks out your issue is either the main board or the T-con board. My first suspect would be the main board.

You can't always see bad components. You would have to take the TV to a shop to get fixed. The boards have to be tested to make sure they are all working. I had a Samsung smart TV and drove me crazy. Had an issue just like yours but it only shut off when you change channels or when it goes dark between adds and it turned out to be the backlight strip had couple burnt LEDs. The boards in the TV have a chart with pins and voltage that can be used to test them but again you need to know what you're doing and how to use a multimeter. If the power supply is not providing adequate voltage, it will cycle on and off. If the main board has issues, it will cycle on and off. Could be any of those boards.
