Battery replacement won’t charge, only works with old screen,

Hey i turned on my old iPhone 5s I hadn’t used in a long time recently the battery health was 14% and constant drain and wouldn’t really charge, so I decided to do a battery replacement, battery change worked fine would turn on battery is fine, but it would only trickle charge the battery and it died and could no longer charge, I had another broken iPhone so I decided to see what was wrong, eventually I put the busted screen of the broken iPhone on the battery replaced one and it charged and turned on fine, so I ordered a new screen, received it today and it’s having the same problems as before after installing, any suggestions ? ( I have fixed quite a few iPhones just they have been iPhone 6 and above so explain away I should have a fair idea)
