After installing more RAM, my MacBook Pro 15' will not power up?

I am currently using the 10.5.8 OS and want to upgrade to the 10.6 S L. Because 512 was not enough memory, I ordered 4Gb(2X2). After installation, the machine will not power up.I tried several senarios with the modules and slots, but nothing works except to replace the old module. Got any ideas ???

A reference check shows your model listed by Apple at a max of 2GB of ram. There is some discussion as to whether it will take 4 GB. The specified ram is 667 MHz PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM. If your new ram does not match this you probably need to replace it with the correct ram. Good luck.

EveryMac listed the maximum RAM at 2GB. They usually list it higher if it will take it.

Thanks! The numbers match except for the total amount of RAM. Shouldn't one 2GiG module work then ?

No, use two one GB sticks.

If the timing specs (printed on the RAM modules) match the working ones you took out it points to faulty RAM, either through mishandling or manfacturing fault. Memory modules are very sensitive to statics, take proper precauctions before handling them. Please state a.) which MacBook are you trying to upgrade ( tell us the serial number if in doubt). b:) What is printed on your new RAM modules.

First, thank you for your response. I took every precaution to discharge any static elec. before handling any of the modules. The serial number is W862952BVWW. My thought is that it is an older Mac and might not recognize that much memory . I also thought that was just a PC problem with memory upgrade.

If it helps, the memory modules are manufactured by Kingston, but the package is marked Apple.

I'm the owner of a Mac Core Duo A1150 running with 2 Gb of Ram. I tried to install 2 extra Gb of Ram and the computer didn't start. I looked up in the internet to solve this problem and i found out that this specific model only supports up to 2 Gb of Ram and there is no way to upgrade it to 4 Gb.

At first, I'm sorry that I'm bad at writing.

I had the same problem when my first time that I tried to install new 2*8 Gb 1333 Mhz on my MBP late 2011 (version 10.7.4)too, and I couldn't turn it on even I plugged the power cord, also not charged too. but later I decided to disconnect the battery wire and plug it back and installed the 2*2 Gb original RAM and somehow I can start it up. After that I turned it off and reinstalled th 2*8 Gb Ram,and my Macbook pro 15 work fine. Good luck!
