My MacBook was dropped a few years ago and now it wont boot up

My MacBook was dropped a few years ago and I never got it fixed. When I recently turned it on and connected it to the tv in order to see, I noticed it will not boot up. I’ve tried starting it and holding command and R in order to get to the disk utility. I was able to do a first aid check on the OS but not on the Macintosh HD. That option wasn’t available. I’ve also tried to let the system start and it takes me to a reset window. When I click forgot password, enter the credentials, it says it was “not able to connect to the”. I’d like to know a solution to this issue.

"......and I never got it fixed" Never got what fixed exactly?

"...... it says it was “not able to connect to the”. " What exactly? If the "internet" try a RJ45 cable (directly hooked to your providers modem) instead of a wireless connection.

Don't really know anything about Apple related products these days (the last Apple products I used to repair were Apple II+'s which was a long time ago now) but I do find it strange that you seem to imply that the OS test was passed but the hard drive wasn't. Weird. lol :-)

The A1502 13" 2015 MacBook Pro Retina does not have a ethernet port so an adapter would have to be used from usb from ethernet.

Forgot password option sounds like you can boot into MacOS but you have forgotten the password for it? In that case MacOS needs to be re-installed. If data needs to be recovered from the Mac you'll need to install MacOS on a external drive.

OP When you mean by not boot up does it get stuck on a loading bar? If yes is it with the apple logo with the loading bar right under the logo or the larger loading bar at the bottom of the screen?

Seems (to me) that when it was dropped, it fractured an electrical connection but it didn't break ... until now. Needs an internal investigation.

You best bet on this one may be to send it in to Apple for a “Flat Rate Fee” depot repair.

With Tax and shipping, in the USA, this runs $357. From the day you call total repair time is four days.

Does it show signs of a physical impact?
