after replacing hard drive I have these two clips left over

I have a hunch they are related to the LDVS (?) cable that connects LCD to main frame. At one point I thought I saw something spring forth but could not locate anything until I had completed the reassembly. There are two "rainbow" thin lines to the far right of the screen. Could this be related? I took the LCD removal shot from a youtube video - is this the LDVS cable? and could it relate to the thin vertical stripes. Thanks

Those hold the Display data cable in place and prevent it from coming loose. Their not supposed to be removed. They should have two pins on the inside that fit into two holes like a hinge. Your put the cable in then flip them over to hold it in place. I then use some Kapton tape to hold them down.

Thank you for the instruction on how to replace these pins. Very grateful for your help. I'll google Kapton tape for a source and give it a go in next few week. Do you think these pins have a relationship to the the rainbow thin stripes on far right edge of display?

por

The stripes could be caused by the cable nor being securely in place all the way across

The only pins I can think of are actually Torx screws that go into the hard drive screw holes on the bottom facing side of the drive and fit into the rubber grommets to hold the hard drive in place. Look at the bottom of the hard drive here: iMac Intel 24" EMC 2267 Hard Drive Replacement

Here is the photo you emailed me. I've taken this hard drive in and out about three times and never seen anything like it. What else did you remove?

I've torn into this machine and have a lot of unpublished photos but I can't remember anything like what you're talking about. What were the total procedures you did? Can you upload a photo of what you are talking about? I also had screen problems after reassembly but zapping the PRAM cleared it all up.

I finally have picture of the two clips that came out after I opened the imac case. How do I post the pictures?

por

At the bottom left of this window is a blue tab that says "Images", click on it and follow the upload directions ;-)

I still don't see the blue tab "images" so I sent my photo to your email address. Hope that's okay. Thanks for your help.

I did not remove anything else, but I have a hunch they may have popped out when attempting to reattach the fittings to the back of the LCD. If you have a photo of the back of the LCD, either while it is still attached to the
