backlight, mute button and charging error message following wetness

Hey,

I guess I can join the club of getting my phone a bit wet. yay.

Primary problem: Intermittent backlight issues.

Most of the posts about backlight problems discuss a backlight that's completely burnt out, but mine works perfectly when I'm trying to unlock it and at a few other points. There are other posts with similar symptoms, but none of them have been answered.

Issue 2: Phone says I'm trying to charge it with a non-approved accessory, even though it's not plugged into anything.

Issue 3: Mute button no longer works.

I've had my phone in and out of a bag of rice for a few days, but the problems keep coming back. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Solução escolhida

Issue One - The reason your backlight (LCD) is intermittent is because liquid has made its way into the connection of the LCD and is causing it to short. Worst case scenario it has made contact with the logic board LCD connections, in this case it is unrepairable.

Fix One - Install a new LCD

Issue Two - Once your iPhone has connected with a "non-approved accessory" it has the chance (due to a firmware glitch, thanks apple) to re-occur and annoy the *^#$ out of you. Also check the dock connector to see if any of the pins have been damaged. If so you will need a new Antenna Bridge Assembly.

Fix Two - Restore your iPhone

Issue Three - Do your headphone jack/volume buttons still work? If so then the connection to the logic board should be fine (Mute/vibrate button, volume button and headphone jack are run off the same circuit). It could be happening due to a drop or physical damage? If this is the case then you can either replaced the headphone jack assembly or just buy a new back assembly to save you the hassle of installing the headphone jack assembly.
