How do I fix lid misalignment with body?

Hello all, I am planning to replace the thermal paste on my MacBook Pro 2015 15” model that I recently bought. I noticed today that there is a very small but still noticeable misalignment between the lid and the main body of the MacBook. Essentially the lid is slightly retracted compared to the main body at the front and overhangs a tiny amount at the back. This is a very minor issue but I thought I might as well fix it whilst opening it up to reapply thermal paste.

My question is how exactly would I do this? There is already the guide here that shows how to replace the top assembly, however all I want to do is realign it. I saw a YouTube video earlier where the guy undos all three hinge screws on either side, makes sure the lid and main body are flush again, and simply tightens up the screws. Would this be sufficient? The guide says you need to undo several connectors, however as I am not actually removing the lid does this need to be done or can I simply open up the back, undo the screws, realign and put it back together again?

Cables run over the screw hinges you’d be supposed to unscrew to realign the lid. Without removing the cables screws are simply not accessible.

Looking at the guide though, the hinge screws (the three bunched together) are exposed by the covers in Step 11. None of the cables from the previous steps looks like they obstruct these covers in anyway, so surely it would be okay to skip these steps?

@arkadiusbear Sorry, I overlooked the "detail" it's a retina 15". Well, this is way simpler than preretina machines, you just have the rubber bumpers to remove and reapply. Use a heat source such as a mild temperature hairdrier to soften the biadhesive keeping the bumpers in place and preserving their adhesion property and you're done.

@arbaman Would some double-sided tape work fine? Don't actually own a hairdrier haha. How important are the covers? Looks to me that they are purely cosmetic but I assume they prevent shorting of some kind.

por

@arkadiusbear It surely does if needed, double sided tape will be fine but a drop of glue too will be ok if it better suits you, just avoid superglue types. Bumpers are there just to protect screws and hinges in case of accidents in my opinion.

@arbaman Okay I'll try some double-sided tape, pretty confident that'll do the job just fine. Thanks for your help!
