MBP Mid 2015 Battery Replacment - No Battery Power

I just replaced the battery on my MacBook Pro 15'' Retina Display Mid 2015 following these instructions:

Substituição da bateria do MacBook Pro 15" com tela Retina de meados de 2015

....with this kit:

MacBook Pro 15" Retina (Mid 2015) Battery

I had to replace the battery as the lid was not closing all the way, and the lower case feet (on the front-end trackpad side) would not touch the flat surface of a desk/table. Upon removing the lower case, the battery cells looks like inflated airbags (swollen).

Trackpad and keyboard are all ok and functioning after replacing the old battery with the new battery.

However, the problem I'm running into is the laptop will not stay powered on without the MagSafe power adapter / charger.

I've reset the SMC as outlined in step 74 above as indicated:

https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201295

....as well as reset NVRAM / PRAM:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204063

....both on multiple occasions. I'd like to get to the point to calibrate the battery, however even after leaving MagSafe charger connected for ~12 hrs (constant amber), laptop doesn't run off of battery and powers off as soon as MagSafe charger connection is removed (which is constant state amber). The battery “charge” level stays at 18% and never changes. I am not able to get into my user profile and install coconut battery as the laptop immediately reboots after entering my profile password. Same with temporary guest account - laptop reboots.

I don’t have any peripherals or external monitors connected - just MagSafe charger only.

I removed the lower case and re-checked all connections, which are all intact, as well as removed the battery connector from it's socket connection to the logic board and re-connected the battery connector before attempting another SMC reset / NVRAM re-set, etc, but am still getting the same result with rebooting.

I see a reference in this post (Mid 2012) with someone else experiencing same symptoms from @danj that references a likely issue with a charging logic issue:

MacBook Pro won't turn on after battery replacement

Could it be a bad (new) battery or could it be a logic board issue that didn't exist until I replaced the battery?

Let’s take a look at the battery with a better tool. Please download, install and run Coconut Battery and post your results.

UPDATE

Boot from an external source as your issue appears to be system related.

UPDATE

Here’s the Battery Recall program:

Thx for responding, @mayer! Yes, I'd like to use CB for battery info, however as soon as I enter my password to get into my profile, it reboots. I can't open a browser to download / install Coconut Battery since the reboot is immediate - I can't even see the dock paint before the abnormal reboot occurs.

I just booted into diagnostic mode and ran a test and am getting this reference code:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203747

PPT006

The battery requires service. The battery is not functioning normally, though you may not notice a change in its behavior or the amount of charge it holds. You can continue to use your battery before it’s checked without harming your computer.

I can boot via USB3 High Sierra installer, however when installing macOS to an external drive (through the other USB3 port), the install gets to 1/2-way point, then abnormally reboots in the middle of the install. If I had a bad drive, how would that apply in this scenario when I'm by-passing it altogether just using external disks (using 'option'):

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202796

Tried internet recovery:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204904

After progress bar completes on the spinning globe, abnormal reboot occurs and I'm unable to re-install macOS from Apple's internet servers.

Could it be a logic board issue created the battery problem I had and there's still a hardware issues? I ran diagnostic again, however still receiving PPT006 cause code.

I'd think if there was a logic board issue or some other hardware problem it would show up in diagnostic results, however possible that logic board problem results in battery communication issues even though SMC has been reset multiple times?

Has this problem been solved? I changed the battery yesterday and seem to have similar problems.

Still in-progress....I took my MacBook Pro to the Apple store to diagnose. They told me it's a logic board issue, but that they needed a Tier 4 repair center to determine if there were any other failed components, so they shipped it off (with my ok) to a repair center. Then they give me the choice to repair (at a cost) of a couple of different possible scenarios, or they send back as-is and iFixit myself.

Closing the loop on this issue - ended up being the battery. For some reason the replacement batteries I received from iFixIt didn’t work and were causing abnormal reboots as mentioned above. The logic board was NOT replaced.
