Cannot connect to secure WI-FI since a month

I have a very weird issue!

I can’t connect a secure connection with my MacBook Pro. It seems it connects, but then I don’t receive any IP Address.

If I turn on a non-secure WiFi connection on my router, then I can connect. I tried with different routers, in different places and only the secure connections don’t work, the unsecured connections work everywhere.

I tried different routers on different places (workplace enterprise network, workplace guest network, parents wpa2 network, family wpa2 network, hotel no password network), where there is no password needed, there my mac can connect to the network (company guest network, hotel network, my router guest network), but when there is a password, there I dont get IP address.

I’ve tried:

  • Reboot
  • Safe Boot
  • From recovery partition
  • PRAM & SMC reset
  • Deleted the drive and restored a one month old TimeMachine backup
  • Deleting the complete setting files from /Library folder
  • Added a new user
  • Removed passwords from Keychain
  • Removing the WiFi connection and add it in again in Network Settings
  • Removed and add new Location in Network Settings

Are you able to connect your system via Ethernet to your Router?

Have you tried using connection doctor if so copy the output and paste it here for us to see

Who's Router (AP) are you using (Make & Model), have you updated firmware or altered its settings?

via Ethernet works, and also works with an additional USB wifi card. (enterprise wifi not, only guest and WPA2)

Still not enough info to give an answer. Connection doctor should have given you some data where the failure is.

From what you've offered here I would say you have a VPN application which is getting in the way. I love VPU's but they also add a layer in the connection.

It sounds like you have access to a corporate network, here do you have access to one of your IT folks to see if they can help you?

Hi Dan, I started the mac with recovery partition, but the same issue happen all the time. I also akready deleted the MachintosHD partition after a backup.
