I have a Kenmore 70 series washer that wont spin. lid switch is new and timer is new. There are no broken parts that I can see. There is a solenoid/plunger in there. Is it possible that this is not working. Did not start to spin and there was no slow down before it stopped.

Cause 1
Motor Coupling
The motor coupling connects the motor to the washing machine transmission. If the washer is overloaded, the motor coupling will fail in order to protect both the motor and transmission. The motor coupling can also fail due to normal wear. Inspect the motor coupling to determine if it is broken. If the motor coupling is broken, replace it.

Inspect the drive belt to determine if it is broken or if it is loose on the pulleys. If the drive belt is broken or loose, replace it.

We had one and it was replaced to a new Samsung. But after replacing the drive belt or coupling, if you listen for a buzzing sound from the washer, immediately shut it off. this will prevent the problem again. Our washer made this sound and also made a burning smell. Note that this is different than the unbalanced load buzzer. The sound is also very faint and the smell probably means you have to replace the he drive belt or coupling again.
