Trackpad, keyboard and haptics not working.
Hello,
I opened my computer to use it and the trackpad, keyboard and haptics all didn’t work.
I then searched various forums to find information on it and I tried resetting the SMC and NVRAM.
I have also removed the battery cable from the computer to try resetting it as well. None of that went anywhere, so my next step was to order and replace the trackpad cable (which I read that people have tried and worked).
The new trackpad cable looks identical and has the same model number on it. After replacing the cable the computer would run a kernel_task of 60%-80% on the system CPU.
With no luck I brought it to an Apple repair shop and they couldn’t find what was wrong with it. Once getting it home I put the old trackpad cable in and the kernel_task CPU issue went away. I tried this twice to confirm. I’m now to the point I don’t know what to do. Should I buy a new cable and try it?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Luke
Update (04/12/2019)
No liquid was near the laptop and I also use a keyboard cover to protect against it. I went from work in a hotel ballroom to the airport and then home. On the plane it stayed with me the whole time. The bag was never dropped. I got home late so I didn’t open it until the morning when I noticed the problem .
To add I also have a thick bumper case that protects the edges.
Could a coworker have spilt something on it and tried to clean it up…yes. Could someone have dropped it…yes. I can’t rule out any of these things, but I can be 95% sure it wasn’t it.
Thanks again.

Can you give us some history on what happened. Did you have a liquid spill onto the system to sit the system down on a wet surface?
