Phone won’t charge unless dead
my phone will only charge after it completely dies and after it dies and i plug it in it charges but i can’t be on it because it won’t charge while unlocked.

Such issues are often associated with the use of aftermarket chargers/cables that in the long run tend to damage an IC called Tristar, handling a number of tasks together with the charging and power ICs. It can be fixed but requires microsoldering as it’s a component replacement repair.

this is happening to me right now but it’s not the charger because it charges my ipad just fine but it only charges my phone when it dies and after that i can’t unplug it or it won’t charge until it dies again

Well, it might be a charger issue. Or maybe a hardware issue. Try soft resetting ur phone.

What is the amperage of the charger? It sounds like it’s not recieveing enough power to charge while powered on, but the lowered power usage when it’s off allows it to charge. I had the same thing happen trying to charge my LG Leon with the power supply for my smartwatch, which is only rated at half the amperage.

Same here! iPhone XR charges only after switch off. (After plug in it boot up and charge showing normally but if u remove cable n plug in it won’t work again until u switch off again)

My iphone won’t charge unless it fully dies. It’s not the charger because it works fine with other devices. This phone used to be able to be charged anytime without dying. I don’t know what’s wrong with it.
