Why is my DS lite's upper screen tinted red and why does it crash?

I recently dug up my DS lite from my garage. I also recently found a charger and I have been playing it ever since. When I first started it up, I noticed 3 problems immediately: the touch screen is numb so it needs replaced. However, I don't know about the other two problems. One is that the upper screen’s display is tinted red. Red on dark colors is most visible, so it kinda ruins the game for me at times. The other issue I don't know about is that my DS Lite randomly crashes. For a little bit, it was because I moved its upper case further back or tried to shut it. Does anyone know why this happens? Much appreciated if I can find solutions. :) Here's a couple pics...

Hi!

My guess is a bad contact between the cable of the upper screen and the main board or a damaged cable. The DS tends to crash when the displays are not connected properly or if they are damaged.

In the first case, just tear the console open using this guide and reconnect the ribbon cable of the upper LCD. Otherwise it’s best to replace the upper screen, you can find them for quite cheap on Amazon or eBay. We have a guide for that here.

As for the touchscreen, we have a guide for that as well here, you can only replace the digitizer layer (this layer is effectively glued to the actual LCD panel and its function is to register touches). The glue is easy to remove and replacement parts come with their own glue (as far as I know).

Thanks so much! I didn't have the tools to do the job yet, but now I finally do. I just got it taken apart tonight. Now for the next stage: Getting a touchscreen and upper LCD screen. For now, it is sitting in my drawer. And I took this long to reply because like i said I just now got tools. But yeah, thanks!
