Hi,

More information is required.

Is the player status indicator light turning on when the player is switched on?

If it does, what colour is it?

por

Hi,

How is the music source connected to the player, ethernet cable, WiFi or via the 3.5mm socket Line In connection?

Can you try connecting a music source via the 3.5mm Line In socket (if this is not the normal connection)to check if the audio level is still low or can be adjusted up and down?

Hi Jayeff,

I really appreciated your response! I have sonos play 1, 3 and 5 for each. This morning, I did delete all sonos app from my computer and tablets and redownloaded it into my devices. All sonos connected with sonos app through wifi well. Play 1 and 3 work well as usual. The play 5 sounds little when I stood closer. Turning play 5 to max volume felt like rate 1-2 if I assume the sound volume in rate of 10 in total and it didn’t feel from bass but It gave me a feeling that the sonos play 5 antenna works well.

I tried to play songs from my ipod used a speaker of OOntz Angle 3 through the 3.5 mm socket line, it works beautifully, when I switched to the sonos play 5, it has no sounds at all, and not even a little.

I guessed the play 5 has speakers of 1 bass, two mid-range, and 2 tweets (high ?). I am not sure how I can test which parts is broken.

Solução escolhida

Hi,

Since it seems to switch on and connect well with other devices but does have any volume when connected it may be that the problem is with the audio control board.

This is speculation on my part because without a schematic diagram or service manual it would be difficult to know for sure. It could well be one of the other boards as well. I don’t think that the actual speakers are the problem. It would be very unusual for all the speakers to fail at the same time. You would expect some of them to work, e.g. mid range OK but no bass etc.

Initially the best that I can advise is perhaps that you open the speaker and check if there is anything obviously untoward to be seen, such as burnt out or heat stressed components, loose connections etc.

Here’s a link to the ifixit Sonos Play 5 guides which may be of some help.

You could also try contacting a reputable, professional electronics repair service, experienced in audio repairs and ask for a quote to see how they compare to Sonos.

Hi,

I did contact with local professionals and they charged $75-$100 for initial troubleshooting. My question is for you, where I can buy the parts even they fingure out what problem is? thanks

Hi,

Unfortunately I cannot find any Sonos 5 spare parts online and Sonos do not seem to offer replacement boards either.

You may be lucky that the problem may not require a board replacement but that it is repairable by the local repair service.

Sorry that I can't be of more help.
