Shine a light to your screen in a darker environment and check if you see a faint image of your desktop/booting logo. If you can see it, it should be a backlight issue you can try to fix by replacing the inverter board. If you have no image at all it might be the screen went bad or you have a GPU issue, that’s a relatively common problem on Macs of those series.
